Starting July 1, 2020, the trusted healthcare advice your employees get when calling the Premera 24-Hour NurseLine will be provided through Doctor On Demand. This change won’t be noticeable to our members, who’ll continue to use the same number to access the same level of support. But here’s everything employers need to know about what’s changing, who’s impacted, and more.
What’s changing?
Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska is replacing our current 24-Hour NurseLine provider Carewise with Doctor On Demand. Doctor On Demand is an all-in-one technology and services platform enabling next-generation care.
As part of our efforts to expand access to virtual care for our members during the COVID crisis, we’ve recently added their primary care, urgent care, and behavioral health services. We believe also using them as a provider for NurseLine will continue to increase our continuity of care.
Who’s impacted?
This applies to all groups currently eligible for the 24-Hour NurseLine.
What’s better?
There are added benefits for your employees. If their NurseLine provider recommends it, they’ll now have the ability to start a more in-depth video visit with a provider or receive a referral based on group benefits and eligibility. All without having to make a second call!
More resources for employers interested in communicating about NurseLine are available on by logging into the secure employer website and selecting employee communication center.
