For all Premera members, except those with a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan

The Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska mobile app is now better than ever. With recent app updates, members have access to new features that make it easier to use Teladoc* and share their Premera ID card.

    One-stop access to Teladoc

Your clients with Teladoc benefits can now use the Premera mobile app to access Teladoc video and phone consultations. Members can get Teladoc care in the same place they see their Premera claims, deductibles, and plan information. They can schedule a call or video consultation with a doctor without having to download a separate app or visit another website.

To get started, members can access Teladoc by signing in to the Premera app on either iOS or Android. Members who have previously registered for Teladoc will be automatically signed in without having to enter a separate user name or password. Members who are new Teladoc users will be able to quickly register with many fields pre-filled on their behalf.

To get to Teladoc in the Premera app:

    • On Android, go to the Find Care tab and select Teladoc.
    • On iOS, scroll down on the dashboard screen to locate and tap Teladoc.

Important: If your client has not already registered for Teladoc, they will need to sign up for an account prior to using the Premera mobile app.

Teladoc offers virtual care at any time. It is ideal for treating non-emergency conditions, such as allergies, cold and flu, and sinus infections. For more information on Teladoc, visit premera.com for your individual clients or check out this brochure for your group clients.

    Fax ID card

When your client doesn’t have their physical member ID card but needs to share the information with a provider, they can now fax a digital copy straight from their Premera mobile app. This feature is in addition to the current capability that allows members to download a copy to their phone and email it to the provider.

To fax a copy of the ID card:

    • Members enter their provider's fax number and name in the app.
    • The front and back of the ID card are then securely communicated to our fax vendor and sent to the provider. It should only take a few minutes for the provider to receive the fax.
    • The member will receive a message that the fax was sent, but they won’t get confirmation the provider received their ID card. Members may contact the provider’s office to confirm they received the ID card.

This feature is currently available to Android users only. We are planning to make it available on iOS soon.
