The clients you helped to enroll in an individual plan from Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska are now beginning to use their benefits. As they do, they might have questions.
We’re in your corner and ready to help you answer their questions—and yours—about ID numbers.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the three types of ID numbers.
- Member ID: This number is created after your client’s first payment is made. It is found on the Premera ID card and is used for benefits and claims. It’s also the number used by your client’s pharmacies and provider offices. This is also referred to as the Subscriber ID.
- Exchange Subscriber ID: This number is issued by the federal or state exchange to your clients who identify as the head of household. Their family members will each have their own Exchange Member ID. Premera will only need the Exchange Subscriber ID if your client is on their way to becoming a member or hasn’t paid their first bill.
- System ID: This number allows our payment system to identify your client. The System ID is found on your client’s invoice from Premera and allows us to ensure your client’s payment is applied to their account.
