Starting November 1, 2019, Victoza will be a non-preferred medication and require prior authorization in order to be covered by Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska. Victoza is an injectible medication to treat type 2 diabetes in adults.
Other similar medications will continue to be covered at the preferred drug cost share, such as Trulicity, Ozempic, Byetta, and Bydureon.
Premera will mail members a letter on September 16, 2019, notifying them of this change.
If a client comes to you with questions about this change, please have them call the number included in their member letter or printed on the back on their ID card.
