We made changes to our 2019 small group metallic health plans to help make Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska the best choice for your clients. Here’s a reminder of what’s new this year and the resources available for you to use when talking with your new and renewing small group clients.
New 2019 health plan options
We introduced more plan options to better meet the needs of your clients, including the following two new Plus Bronze plans available this year:
- The Plus Bronze 7900: A PPO plan that gives members the freedom of seeing a wide range of healthcare professionals anywhere in Alaska and nationwide without a referral, Care is provided at a lower cost when members see an in-network provider.
- Plus HSA-Qualified Bronze 6000: A HSA-qualified plan that offers valuable benefits for covered services and works in combination with an employee-owned, tax-advantaged HSA, allowing members to save for eligible medical expenses.

2019 formulary changes
To help keep premiums and benefits stable for our members, we updated our 2019 drug list for small group metallic plans.
The Rx Search tool makes it easy to review the 2019 drug list for small group plans. Encourage your clients and their employees to review the 2019 drug list for their plan and determine the status of their prescription drugs.
Employee Communications Center
Remind your clients that Premera wants to make benefits simple to understand. That’s why we developed the Employee Communications Center where they can find ready-to-use resources to talk with their employees about their healthcare benefits.
