Over the past several months, Premera Blue Cross has received amazing stories about teachers across Washington who demonstrate time and time again how they are in their students’ corner.
From all those stories, we selected a few individuals to honor with a Premera Teachers Tribute Award.
One of those few selected for a Teachers Tribute Award is a Kokanee Elementary teacher named Stacey Hansen. Hansen recently was celebrated by Premera, Seattle Sounders FC, her students, and the school.
Hansen’s tribute included a classroom surprise, $2,000 in school supplies, plus an epic Sounders game day experience with free tickets for her students, friends, and family.
Hansen was nominated for the award by Deana Harris, a former parent. In her nomination letter, Harris told the story of her student Ayden’s life changing experience with Hansen.
“(Ayden) walked into her first-grade class half the size of his classmates,” Harris wrote. “She welcomed him with a smile and treated him just like any other student. To Stacy Hansen, Ayden wasn’t a student with dwarfism, he was just Ayden the first grader.”
