For groups with the Advanced Enhanced Controlled Substance Use (eCSU) program
As part of our due diligence to ensure that products and programs provided to our clients meet their expected value, we conducted an evaluation of the Advanced eCSU program and made the decision to discontinue the product based on its financial performance and low utilization.
Groups on the Advanced eCSU program will transition to the Standard eCSU program effective January 1, 2021. The Standard program includes provider/pharmacy lock-in, which means you designate the only pharmacy members can use to obtain opioid prescriptions and other controlled substances. The program also uses advanced and predictive analytics to identify members at high risk, conducts case investigations, and locks members into one pharmacy and/or provider where appropriate.
Premera is expanding virtual care capabilities for our members by partnering with Boulder Care and Workit Health. These two digital care providers are available through the new Premera Substance Use Disorder bundle offering long-term support and medication-based treatment for opioid used disorder and alcohol use disorder. Members can seek treatment by trained clinicians through secure video and messaging from the comfort of their homes.
