For Premera members with an individual or a fully insured employer plan who live in a rural zip code and do not have an established primary care provider.
We want our customers to say we take great of them. So, we’re making it easy for those who are behind on their colorectal cancer screening to take home tests and mail them in for free.
This program is targeting individuals 50 to 75 years of age. This is the age range recommended for colorectal cancer screening at regular intervals.
What you should know
We want you to be prepared if you receive questions from any of your clients who receive a kit. Here’s what you should know.
- On or around November 11, 2019, members will receive a letter welcoming them to the FIT (Fecal Immunochemical Test) program. This letter will briefly explain the program and what to expect.
- Approximately 10 days later, members will receive a FIT kit.
- The member will be instructed to mail back the collected specimen to the lab in a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
- Once a kit is returned, Home Access (the vendor Premera is working with) processes the specimen and a results letter is mailed to the member and their primary care physician (if available).
- In cases where a member does not have a PCP and has a positive result, they will receive the results via certified mail and a phone call from a Home Access representative encouraging them to seek follow up care.
