Premera Secure Tools Moving to Availity September 10

    Premera’s secure online tools will transition to Availity Essentials starting on September 10. We encourage you to get a head start and begin using Availity now so that your office staff is up to speed on all things Availity by this fall. See training webinar information below.

    The following secure tools will no longer be available on Premera’s secure provider website as of September 10:

    • Eligibility and benefits
    • Prior authorization and status
    • Claims and payments
    • Electronic funds transfer (EFT) for enrollment or cancellation

    A few tools will remain on Premera’s secure provider website, until they can be made available through Availity, including:

    • Claims editor
    • PCP roster
    • Payment policies

    Links to these tools are also on the Premera payer space in Availity under Resources.

    NOTE: Plans NOT served through Availity:

    • General: Individual Plans and Medicare Advantage are not served through Availity.
    • Availity Authorization & Referrals tool: The Availity Authorization & Referrals tool does not apply to Individual plans, Medicare Advantage, FEP, and Shared Admin. Prior authorization service requests that go through eviCore and AIM today will continue as is.

    Use Availity to submit prior authorizations

    Providers seeing Premera members can now access online prior authorizations using Availity. Using Availity to submit your prior authorizations eliminates the need to fax your requests.

    Tool highlights include:

    • Get real-time responses for inpatient/outpatient prior authorizations
    • View the Auth/Referral Dashboard to filter requests and check status
    • Add attachments to your initial request (up to 10 files)
    • Enter your procedure code to see if it requires a prior authorization with Premera Code Check
    • Save drafts automatically in your dashboard for 18 months

    To register, sign in to Availity, select Help & Training > Get Trained and then select Sessions in the Search Catalog field. To see all the trainings listed for the current month, you can scroll the list. If you want to view sessions for a specific day, select that day on the calendar under Your Calendar. For recorded trainings, enter "PREMERA" in the Search Catalog field, and then select the course you want.
