On November 3, 2021, the FDA approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 2-11. The vaccine is a two-shot regimen, administered the same as the original Pfizer vaccine, 21 days apart.
This vaccine is a smaller dose of the original vaccine and requires unique codes. When billing for a pediatric dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, be sure to use the correct codes. The pediatric vaccine continues to be covered by the federal government
and you should only bill for the administration of the vaccine. Check the COVID-19 Provider FAQ for correct codes and additional information about administering COVID vaccines, cost share waivers, and other requirements related to COVID-19.
